I was a primary school teacher in Nairobi, responsible for the computer lab perched on the building's fourth floor. What I didn't love was the toxic environment that had become my daily reality.

The school owner had a reputation. Teachers whispered about her explosive temper in the staff room, sharing stories of public humiliations and verbal assaults that left grown professionals questioning their worth. I thought I could handle it. I thought if I just did my job well, kept my head down, and focused on the students, I'd be safe.
